Well, we had quite a scare last week. Hayley had gotten a little cold towards the end of last week (she's had several over the course of this winter). Well, Sunday morning about 2:30 a.m. she woke up and came into our room. She had a slight temperature so I took her downstairs to get some medicine. I sat in the rocking chair with her to rock her a few minutes before I put her back to bed. She was breathing pretty quick and her whole tummy and chest would move with every breathe. She fell back asleep so I put her back to bed. When she woke up in the morning, she was still breathing very quickly so we call Wee Care to speak to one of the nurses. They called me back and said we should bring her in later that day to see a doctor. While the nurse was transferring back to the appointment desk, she must have run over to the appointment lady to tell her to have us come in right away so they could check her oxygen levels. When I got to the appointment ladyon the phone, she told us to bring her in to check her oxygen and then to bring her back at 4:30 to see a doctor. Scott decided to take Hayley to get her oxygen checked while Mallory and I stayed home to get ready for church.
Mallory and I got all ready for church (it was our Ward Conference today so we were having Stake visitors in Primary and then a special meeting with the Stake Primary Presidency in the afternoon at 3:30) and we waited, and waited and waited. I had called Brooke, our Primary President, when Scott and Hayley left at 9:45 just to give her a heads up. I told her not to panic if we were late to Sacrament Meeting and that we would definitely be there by Primary time so I could conduct Primary. Scott called the first time a little after 11 (church starts at 11) to say they had checked her oxygen levels and they were below 90 (which is bad) and they had given her a breathing treatment to see if they could raise her levels. They had also taken a chest x-ray to see if she had pnemonia and there was the signs in her lungs of the beginings of pnemonia.
Well, after 4 hours of tests and waiting and treatments (and being stuck in a 8X9 foot examination room with only 4 or 5 books- which Scott read many, many times over), they decided to admit Hayley to the hospital. Scott called to let me know and said we had a decision to make - we could admit Hayley to Davis Hospital or if we decided to take her to Ogden Regional she would have to ride in an ambulance because they had her on oxygen and we couldn't just drive her up there. (Note: We just barely switched insurance two weeks ago and we knew we were in the Ogden Regional Network and not the McKay Dee network but we weren't sure about Davis Hospital.) We decided we would take our chances with the insurance and admit her to Davis because Scott and I both knew an ambulance ride would be way too traumatic for Hayley because she is still afraid of them from when I took a ride in one. Every time Scott would call from the doctor's office, Hayley would almost be crying and she really wanted me. I had just but Brittney down for a nap so Mallory and I hurried and got out of our church clothes and packed a bag of books, coloring and some of Hayley's special things, so we could go to the hospital. I called Elizabeth in our ward to see if she could come be with Brittney until Scott came home to get her after her nap. I also called Brooke to let her know I wouldn't be there for our stake meeting at 3:30.
