Ode to the Purple Butterflies

Soccer season has begun again!

Mallory and Hayley are playing on the same team again (YEAH!!)! They are the "Purple Butterflies" (we are very excited for a GIRLY GIRL uniform color this season)!!! They happened to get on the same team as five other girls they played with in the fall--which is wonderful! We have had practices every Tuesday and Thursday for the past three weeks and tonight was their first game!

Mallory got her kicks in with the ball and she was always in the middle of "THE PACK" running down the field. Mallory had two great shots and the goal--the ball bounced off the goalie's shin on the first shot and the second shot---well SCORE!!! Mallory made a goal in middle of the second half!

Hayley got in the thick of things too! She was kicking the ball right in front of where Scott, Brittney and I were huddled in our blanket. She stopped kicking to wave to us and then someone else got the ball. Later, as she was running down the opposite side of the field, she had the ball all to herself and kicked it several times down the field. After the game, she asked if we saw her kicking the ball! She is so fun to watch!!

Our Purple Butterflies won the game 2-0! They really don't keep score but ALL the kids and parents do!!

It was pretty chilly tonight and I forgot to take my camera out and get pictures! We'll try and take some on Thursday night!

WAY TO GO HAYLEY AND MALLORY!!!
SCORE!!!

Let's Go Fly A Kite!

It was VERY WINDY today! Scott decided to pull out our kite and see if we get it flying! It got up pretty good and it also spiraled out of control and did nose-dive crashes into the ground! Hayley and Brittney were pretty excited! The wind caught so hard one time that the kite totally came untied from the string. Luckily, our kite landed just around the corner from our house, lying belly up in the middle of the road! Our kite did a nose dive onto the roof of one neighbor's house and go the string caught in the tree. It also fell on another neighbor's roof and the wind kept catching it and it was bouncing along the ground. Brittney was pretty concerned when the kite kept crashing in our neighborhood.

Scott helping Brittney--she's hanging on!! (Notice that Brittney's little "monies" bag is sitting on the ground--she has been carrying it around EVERYWHERE!)

Our kite--actually flying in the air (before spiralling totally out of control!)

We ended up putting the kite away for about 20 minutes while we waited for Mallory to come home from Kindergarten. When she arrived, we all piled in the truck and drove up to the park by our home (there weren't any houses to interfere with the wind). The wind was just too strong today to fly a kite. We tried for about an hour to get the kite up and stay up (longer than 2 minutes) but we didn't have much luck. The kite hit me several times as we were trying to get it up (always when it was spiralling out of control and you had no idea where it was going to land--you just duck for cover so you don't get hurt too bad). After awhile, I was manning the string and Scott tried launching the kite--he had trouble too. Every time Mallory let go of the kite--she would dart away as fast as she could. She didn't want to get hit either! We had fun anyway! We might need to go and buy ourselves a new kite and try another day!!

I must be OUT OF MY MIND

Today Mallory and Hayley each had a friend over to play and eat lunch! They asked if they could paint some little ceramic horses Mallory received as a gift and I said "YES". (I still can't believe I said yes either.) I got all 5 of the girls (even Brittney) in aprons and they each picked out which horse they wanted to paint. We laid newspaper all over the kitchen table and I got out 12 paint pots and 12 brushes. I maybe overdid it on my instructions because I really didn't want paint on the carpet under the table, or on their clothes, or on the kitchen chairs that Scott just steam cleaned two weeks ago. I must say, they did a very good job and I didn't see any catastrophes. We got done just as Alikah, Mallory's friend, got picked up by her mom! The girls had a blast!!

Brittney--so happy to be old enough to paint!!

Hayley applying ANOTHER coat of paint--her pony may take two weeks to dry!!

Aye! Aye! Matey!

Today was Pirate Day at Discovery Preschool. Hayley came home all decked out like a pirate with a pirate scarf around her head, a gold hoop earring, an eye patch, a bird to sit on her shoulder plus a pirate's bag filled with pirate treasures! She looked so cute I had to take pictures! Hayley truly loves going to Preschool. She wishes she could go to school everyday. Each morning she wakes up and asks "Mom, it is a school day today?". She's pretty bummed when it isn't Tuesday or Thursday. We always have to count how many more days until she gets to go to school.

The other night when Scott, Mallory and I went to a wedding reception, we sat by Mrs. Pett (Hayley's Preschool teacher and Mallory's teacher last year). Scott asked Mrs. Pett how Hayley was doing in school. Mrs. Pett said Hayley is so smart and she knows the answers to everything she needs to do. Hayley really doesn't like to take time and do things nicely, she just wants to hurry and get things done so she can move on to the next activity. Mrs. Pett said when it's time to clean up and come to the rug, Hayley always says, "Just a minute, I need to feed my baby!" (She is always playing with the babies at school and at home and everywhere she goes!!)

Hayley will be such a wonderful mother someday! She is so loving and such a tender heart. She loves to gives hugs and kisses and sit on your lap! She loves to listen to stories! She likes to be silly and is always making up her own jokes! Hayley loves to laugh and is always smiling! You are so spunky and full of energy!!

We love you Hayley!!!

March Peterson Family Birthday Dinner

Tonight was the monthly Peterson Birthday Dinner. Tonight we celebrated Great-Grandma Peterson's Birthday, Mallory's Birthday and Trent's Birthday. We went to Great-Grandma and Great-Grandpa Peterson's in Hooper (also lovingly known as Hot Chocolate Grandma and Grandpa by Mallory, Hayley and Brittney). We had ham, funeral potatoes, salads, homemade rolls with brownies and ice cream. It was delicious! Here are a few pictures of the evening:
I absolutely LOVE this picture of Hayley--it was taken by my 10 year old nephew Colton (can we hire you for family pictures??)

Mallory's Birthday Cake

Today we stopped at Cold Stone Creamery so Mallory could pick out her Birthday Ice Cream Cake! The second she saw this NEMO cake, she knew this is the cake she wanted!

We had cake and ice cream right before bed tonight (after Mallory's date with Mom and Dad). I'm not quite sure what Mallory wished for, but we hope all her dreams and wishes come true! We love you Mallory!!

Mallory's Date Night with Mom and Dad

We've decided to take each of the girls out on their own for a little date night with Mom and Dad (something we have just started and plan to do from time to time with no real schedule). Tonight we took Mallory (since it was her birthday too). We needed to go to a wedding reception in Salt Lake and Mallory was very eager to go. She got all dressed up with lip gloss and everything. We had a great chat on the way to Salt Lake. Mallory even read us a story on the way down (she is quite a great reader)!
They had a very nice dinner buffet at the reception we went to. We had the opportunity to teach a little etiquette as we sat and ate. We also saw some of the Young Single Adults at the reception too. We also sat at a table with Mallory's preschool teacher last year (which Mallory thought was great).
We had a nice night out with Mallory!!! She was pretty tuckered out on the way home and took a little nap! I love the one on one dates with my little girls--next is Hayley's turn!
Mallory--6 years old!!!

Our HAPPY, POLITE, CARING, LOVING, SMART, BEAUTIFUL MALLORY

WE LOVE YOU PUNKINZ!!!!!
Happy Birthday Mallory!

Mallory's Birthday

Mallory wanted to go to Chuck E. Cheese for her birthday as a family. She has seen tons of commercial about Chuck E. Cheese on TV and she said, "It's were a kid can be a kid"! We went as a family for lunch. We ordered a pizza, bread sticks, drinks and 60 tokens (which were divided between the three girls and Scott and I each got 4 tokens). The girls could have cared less about eating--they wanted to go play games. We made them sit and eat one slice of pizza before they were itchin' to go. The girls played games, rode little rides and earned a few tickets. After we had been there awhile, Scott asked how many tokens we had left--luckily we only had 4 and we hurried and spent them and went to cash in our tickets for prizes. The girls decided on the tiny Tootsie Roll suckers and we left with about 10 suckers and probably a lot of GERMS!! The girls had a fun time and they were a little disappointed that they weren't able to meet Chuck E. Cheese himself!! I have a feeling someone is going to want to come here again (and it isn't Scott or I)!!!

Scott and Hayley driving in a car race--we'd better steer clear of Hayley when she's behind the wheel--she would have gone a lot further if she got points for every building and car she hit!!! It's a good thing she more than 10 years until she's behind the wheel!!!

Mallory Shootin' Hoops

Mallory was so excited to play with her new basketball hoop! She likes shooting with the smaller ball and she made quite a few baskets.
Watch out boys--Mallory could be a challenge in few years!!!

Mallory's Birthday Present

We got Mallory a basketball hoop and basket ball for her birthday (it is something she'll need to share with the family too). Mallory has been watching the neighbors play basketball the past few weeks and they haven't let her play with them (she's been pretty broken hearted about it--why won't the boys let a girl play with them???). Here is Scott putting the basketball hoop together in our family room. He complained several times that "These are the worst directions I've ever seen" (or maybe it was due to the fact that it was 11:00 at night and the frustration level was a little higher). I went to bed while he was putting parts together outside. He called me out of bed to come help him. Scott really thinks I can do anything and that I have some big muscles. He had me holding the whole thing up (and yes, it started rolling away and I screamed that I would drop it--and yes it was like 11:45 p.m.) while he screwed the last screw in. I was so glad when he didn't need my help anymore!!!
Needless to say, we finally got it put together!!
