It was VERY WINDY today! Scott decided to pull out our kite and see if we get it flying! It got up pretty good and it also spiraled out of control and did nose-dive crashes into the ground! Hayley and Brittney were pretty excited! The wind caught so hard one time that the kite totally came untied from the string. Luckily, our kite landed just around the corner from our house, lying belly up in the middle of the road! Our kite did a nose dive onto the roof of one neighbor's house and go the string caught in the tree. It also fell on another neighbor's roof and the wind kept catching it and it was bouncing along the ground. Brittney was pretty concerned when the kite kept crashing in our neighborhood.
Scott helping Brittney--she's hanging on!! (Notice that Brittney's little "monies" bag is sitting on the ground--she has been carrying it around EVERYWHERE!)

We ended up putting the kite away for about 20 minutes while we waited for Mallory to come home from Kindergarten. When she arrived, we all piled in the truck and drove up to the park by our home (there weren't any houses to interfere with the wind). The wind was just too strong today to fly a kite. We tried for about an hour to get the kite up and stay up (longer than 2 minutes) but we didn't have much luck. The kite hit me several times as we were trying to get it up (always when it was spiralling out of control and you had no idea where it was going to land--you just duck for cover so you don't get hurt too bad). After awhile, I was manning the string and Scott tried launching the kite--he had trouble too. Every time Mallory let go of the kite--she would dart away as fast as she could. She didn't want to get hit either! We had fun anyway! We might need to go and buy ourselves a new kite and try another day!!
